Training Centers
What are Training Centers
A training center is a specialized facility that provides hands-on and classroom instruction for individuals pursuing careers in the electrical trade. Depending on the career path you choose, you will receive from one of two types of training centers.
Types of Training Centers
JATCs
JATCs combine classroom instruction with hands-on job training, preparing individuals for careers as electricians.
AJATCs
An AJATC is similar to a JATC but typically serves a broader geographic region rather than a single local jurisdiction.

Training Centers and VEEP
VEEP is a specialized initiative designed to help U.S. military veterans transition into careers in the electrical trade. Through VEEP, veterans can receive electrical training in one part of the country and have the flexibility to pursue apprenticeships in another region. The program aligns veterans with comprehensive, hands-on training and job opportunities within the IBEW and NECA. This unique structure provides veterans with a solid foundation in electrical work, combining technical training with real-world apprenticeship opportunities across the country, ultimately preparing them for successful careers as skilled electricians and lineman.
Training Locations
The curriculum, along with hands-on activities, is conducted at a dedicated Training Center equipped with tools and facilities that replicate real-world scenarios.
Accepting Locations
After completing VEEP, you will enter the Apprenticeship at one of your preferred training locations. VEEP graduates are considered to have completed the first year curriculum and are ready for second year.
